Recently The Trust reported that the former Principal of Milingimbi School Jennifer Lea Sherrington was still registered as a teacher in the Northern Territory.
A number of allegations against Sherrington are not necessarily for the jurisdiction of the courts. In particular the allegations regarding student registration would fall directly into the remit of the Education Department. There is a question as to whether roll marking is a function of a teacher. Our person on the Clapham omnibus, yes that hypothetical ordinary and reasonable person says yes, marking a roll is part of the job performed by teachers.
We wonder if Education Department CEO Karen Weston has gone too slow on the Milingimbi matter?
