Convicted doing time and you win an appeal, a winner! Think again if you lost registration from a professional body when you were convicted. The registration body may still find that you are “undesirable”. Yes the door has closed for you and you are not returned to the position you were at before the conviction.
The Northern Territory Government and associated “independent” boards will ensure that you are spending a lot on lawyers, you will be “bogged down” and your credit card will have haemorrhoids. You will have to fight tooth and nail to get your registration back. Remember that every six minutes your lawyer spends on your matter you are shelling out more money; money you do not have.
So it seems Humpty Dumpty may not be going back together despite a successful appeal in court.
