Ingratiating Yourself to Assist the Agency May Not Pay

Many a person may think that doing dirty work for a government agency can reap rewards. A casual observer watching Lindall Watson the Acting Principal of Gapuwiyak School in 2009 and 2010 would have assumed that her help would have been rewarded.

Like so many people who come to the NT, Watson was used and then deposed of. That Principals job that should have been in the bag was not forthcoming, the reward was a “pissy posting” in “nowheresville”, in other words bye, see you later, you are expendable. You are shafted.

Once again the dodgy director Hylton Hayes of “coffee for mates” fame had a big hand in this matter called “Shirley Nirrpurranydji Gate”.

Perhaps Watson could have went far in the NT if was not for Hylton Hayes? We can only speculate.

Clear message in this for everyone. Never get involved in other people’s issues when you are not required to. Trying to ingratiate yourself may give you a reward you do not want.

I climbed the greasy pole only to find that the bottle of Champagne at the top was filled with piss.

Uibo Just Another Remote Fat Cat

Education Minister Selena Uibo revealed her true colours in the NT Parliament recently when responding to Robyn Lambley. Rather than addressing the real issue about literacy and numeracy problems among Aboriginal students, Uibo just jumped on the outrage bandwagon.

Too many plane flights as well as hotel catering for Uibo to worry about a few kids in the bush or anywhere else for that matter. As ever when the questions become too uncomfortable just claim that you are outraged.

Yingiya Guyula’s speech highlighted more than anything that Uibo has failed as Education Minister. Like so many before her Uibo seems to be just another remote fat cat riding on the misery of the many who elected her.

Letter from Jarvis Ryan (President AEU NT) titled Union rebuttal

In this letter Mr Ryan claims that journalist Craig Dunlop has engaged in irresponsible muckraking in regard to a series of articles published on the NT Teacher Registration Board.

Mr Ryan’s assertions favours a status quo that is failing us all. None of Craig Dunlop’s articles have ever questioned the vast majority of teachers employed in the NT. The articles show that the TRB is poorly managed and that change is needed.

As for the police checks Mr Ryan mentions in his letter, these checks are in no way complete. Where are the finger print checks. So the entire system has weaknesses as noted by Dunlop.

The TRB also operates as a Kangaroo Court using delay tactics to tie up the careers of some teachers.
